Florida Folk Festival
Along the banks of the historic Suwannee River in White Springs, Florida, folk artists have gathered to celebrate Florida’s land, people, and diverse cultural heritage. Since its humble beginning in 1953, the Florida Folk Festival has not only grown to become Florida’s most prestigious affair, but also named “Florida’s Best Cultural Event.” The festival has recently been recognized by the Southeast Tourism Society as a “Top 20 Event” in the southeastern United States for 2015. Get ready for a fun and entertaining weekend for the entire family!
Will McLean Festival
Will McLean is considered the “Father of Florida Folk.” The “Black Hat Troubadour” travelled all across his beloved state writing hundreds of poems, songs and stories. After his death in 1990 he was inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame. Each year Florida singer songwriters gather at the Will McLean Folk Festival to honor him. McLean wanted to save Florida through his music. Each year the Will McLean Foundation holds a “Best New Florida Song Contest” to keep McLean’s mission alive.

Cedar Key Arts Festival
AWARD-WINNING NEW AND RETURNING ARTISTS Sometimes festivals feel like “been here, done that.” At the OFCA you get the best of the old and new. Winning artists from the previous year receive automatic invitations, encouraging top artists to return. Award-winning artists who will be returning to Cedar Key in 2017 include painter & sculptor Leland Williams of Crescent City, FL (Best of Show 2016); basket weaver Jean Yao of Ft. Lauderdale, FL (2016 Creativity Award Winner), and Carroll Swayze (Best 2D 2016). Each year this event also attracts 60-70 new and emerging artists, like last year’s award winning jewelers Claudia Mechiorre of Canaveral, FL (Best 3D) and Caleb Barnaby of Ormond Beach, FL (Award of Excellence).

Kerrville Folk Festival
Over 1500 outstanding singer-songwriters have been presented on the Festival’s stages since the beginning. More than just a “folk music” festival, Kerrville offers music of many styles including traditional folk, bluegrass, acoustic rock, blues, country, jazz, and Americana. The common thread is songwriting. The focus of the festivals is to promote emerging artists while giving our audience exposure to both new and recognized, seasoned talent. Major label artists such as Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Michelle Shocked, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Robert Earl Keen, Lucinda Williams, and Nancy Griffith played Kerrville early in their careers. Through the years, the Kerrville stage has seen other nationally known artists like Peter Paul & Mary, Judy Collins, Janis Ian and Arlo Guthrie, while others such as singer/songwriter/actor Ronny Cox play on our stages any given year. http://www.kerrvillefolkfestival.org/
